What it is
Alegra is cloud accounting software founded in Colombia for small businesses, entrepreneurs and accountants. It issues e-invoices accepted by each country's tax authority, such as Colombia's DIAN, Mexico's SAT or Peru's SUNAT, and adds inventory, point of sale and accounting reports. Unlike global tools adapted after the fact, it was designed for Latin American regulation from day one.
How to use it
- Issue e-invoices that are valid in your country from the web or mobile app, without logging into the tax portal.
- Ring up sales at the counter with the POS and update inventory on every sale.
- Log expenses and purchases to see profit and taxes owed.
- Share the account with your accountant so the books live in the same system.
- Connect your Shopify or WooCommerce store to invoice online sales.
What it's good for
- A clothing store in Medellín that e-invoices with the DIAN and manages stock from its POS.
- An accounting firm in Monterrey handling CFDI invoicing and bookkeeping for several small clients.
- A hardware store in Lima that needs electronic invoices, receipts and shipping guides for SUNAT.
Pros
- Local e-invoicing in countries such as Colombia, Mexico, Peru, Argentina and Costa Rica
- Spanish-language interface and support, priced in local currency
- POS and inventory in the same account as your books
- 15-day free trial, no credit card required
Cons
- Products, plans and pricing vary quite a bit by country
- Fewer integrations than QuickBooks or Xero
